Driver Review
This is another car I was really looking forward to driving. I’d heard it was a “Vantage beater” - being a similar price and power, and was eager to form my own opinion, having already driven the Aston.
First things first - this may be an Audi, but it is definitely much more than a TT! It has quite an imposing presence - strangely familiar in some ways (being an Audi), but exotic in others - the fins in the bodywork, the stripe down the side, the wide and low front view. This car actually sounds quite American when you rev it.
What I was expecting with the R8 was a car without the class of the Aston Martin, but one that made up for it in technical refinement and drive feel. The Aston definitely wins in the class war, but in my opinion actually also wins as a driver’s car too. The Audi definitely feels more advanced technologically, and is a very refined, fast drive, but just doesn’t seem to evoke as much passion as the Aston. I was actually a little disappointed - I’m a day-to-day Audi fan, but given the choice between the R8 and the V8 Vantage, I’d take the Vantage every time.

Passenger Review
Audi designed the R8 to be the main rival to the 911. It may not be as fast but it is a real contender for the title of “The best German supercar!” The engine is a 4.2 litre V8 and sounds very American in the low revs. Also the addition of Launch Control really makes this feel like a rocket! The exterior looks like a longer version of the new TT but with bigger intakes including the ones near the doors. The interior is classic Audi. Leather mixed with plastic trim and the sat-nav system adorning the center console. The Audi R8 is highly recommended for people who like style and comfort as well as performance and thrills!
