Why?

The project studio is based around a Dual Intel Core2 Duo Apple Macintosh, with 4 GB RAM and 4 TB Hard disk space.

Plugins available include a large set of the Waves effects and some from Antares. The most commonly used are the Waves Renaissance compressors, EQs and Reverbs. There is also a selection of virtual instruments from Steinberg (Halion, Groove Agent) etc, and a good set of drum groove samples

The Mac is running Cubase 4 on Mac OS X (Leopard).

To support MIDI recording, sound modules from Korg, Roland, Emu and Yamaha are available, together with keyboards such as a Nord Stage-88, Korg Trinity Pro-X and Triton, a Roland JP-8000, and of course a Yamaha DX-7!

To support audio recording, there is a selection of Neumann and AKG mics, Focusrite analogue input channels for vocals and instruments, and Line6 and Lexicon outboard.

The system is connected together using a Soundcraft Digital 328 automated mixing desk with MOTU 2408 24-channel audio I/O, and MOTU MIDI Timepiece. Mackie active monitoring is used.

We also have some real instruments! - Levinson Blade and Ovation guitars, Warwick and G&L basses, eggs, etc.

We are also able to handle location gigs, with Alesis 24-track HD recording, 3 kW Nexo PA, Soundcraft live desk and Mackie monitoring.
